Hi Sir, kindly tell us a little bit about you..
Born and raised at City of Koronadal.

If you could live anywhere on this awesome planet, where would you build your dream home?
Coron, Palawan – as a bird and landscape photographer and adventurer, Coron, Palawan is a complete package for me.

What do you think about president-elect Rodrigo Duterte? 
Duterte for me is a man of action and with great Leadership. “Change is really coming”.

What sort of work (photography) do you specialize in?
I love exploring all genre of Photography but I really hook into Bird, Landscape and Festival Photography.

Did you go to school to study photography? 
I never had a chance to involve myself into to any photography courses or any workshop. Youtube, Photography Books and some Photographer Mentors (Sir Jovic Ferrer (Bird), Sir Ric Samanion (Landscape) taught me some basics and important techniques.

How long have you been a photographer? 
I started in photography in 2012.

What or who got you started in photography?
Sir Jovic Ferrer , it started when he made me involved into his fashion about bird photography. He made me first as his spotter and guide. Then one of our sortie, out of curiosity I tried his camera to take some pictures of our feather friend. Then I started to love the excitement and challenges when taking picture of birds.

How would you describe your style (photography)?
I don’t really have style followed in taking pictures; it depends on the subject, place, time and scenario.

The place you love the most in SOX and Why?
Lake Sebu (Sitio Kanko) and T’boli (Lake Holon) Why? Simply, because of this two reasons, BIRDS and Scenic views.

What type of cameras do you shoot with? 
Point and Shoot and DSLR

What is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?

If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Lens – it’s an all-around lens for me for landscape and festival photography.

What lighting equipment do you take on a shoot? 
Flash and flashlight

Can you describe how and when you use flash, video light, reflectors and natural light during a shoot? 
I used flash if my camera ISO can’t handle anymore the light needed in the scene. 

How important is Photoshop in your final images?
For me PS is Very important especially for basic photo adjustment like brightness, contrast, sharpness, for cropping and placement. I used also Adobe Photoshop for advance photo manipulation.

How do you feel about cropping an image?
Image cropping tool is a very important option for a photographer especially when you are dealing with photo composition.

What gives you ideas and inspires you to create such great imagery?
I was inspired by the works of my mentors and great images posted online. And I really love to showcase through my photography how beautiful the culture, place, avian treasures and people of SOX Regions.

What has been your most memorable experience as photographer and why?
When National Geographic showcase my photo of Magnificent Sunbird in their web site. It’s a dream come true for me.

Where would be your dream destination to shoot?

Landscape (New Zealand and China)
Bird (South America)

What is your favorite image you have shot recently? Can you describe its creation in regards to location, lighting, composition etc., also your thoughts when creating the image and what it means to you? 
The photo of Mother Philippine Eagle and her 2 months Eaglet on the nest. We travelled 8 hours to Cinchona, Bukidnon just too captured photos of very rare Philippine Eagle in the wild. It is one of the most memorable 10 seconds of my life. After waiting for almost 2 hours when from nowhere the Mother eagle glide and perched into the nest to visit her eaglet in flew away immediately after 10 seconds. Lucky I was able to made 1 frame despite of the trembling of my hands because of too much excitement.

What do you think of the photography industry at the moment and where do you see it in 5 years from now?
Base on latest trend of cameras and its price and I think camera nowadays considered by many as basic gadget, 5 years from now photography (mobile or DSLD) industry is everybody’s hobby.

The last workshop or seminar you attended and why?
None, I never had a chance to join any photography seminars or workshops.

One way you market your photography?
Post often in social media.

Is there anybody or anything you would love to photograph?
Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Blue Macau Parrot in wild, Mindanao Bleeding Heart

What advice do you have for somebody who wants to pursue photography?
Keep on clicking; make sure your camera is always with you anywhere you go. Practice, practice, practice and practice.

If you could be invisible for one day with your camera... 
Whoa! I would love to explore the foot of Mt. Matutum for Mindanao Bleeding Heart, T’boli Sunbird and other Mindanao endemic avian.

I’ve learned the most from…
Mentors, Youtube, photography books and nonstop exploring and learning.

What talent would you most like to have?
Able to play musical instruments

Something you’re still learning?
Photography and video editing

Something you’re saving up for?
My own DSLR camera and lenses. Because I’m still borrowing camera and lenses from my good friend and birding buddy Denzer Perez.

If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be? 
President Duterte

Your favorite film (movie) of all time? 
Fast and Furious Series

First thing you would do if you won the lotto?
I will buy 2 Canon IDX mark ii, Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM Lens, canon EF 70-200 2.8L IS ii USM Lens , Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Lens, Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L II USM Lens

What photographic ambitions have you not yet achieved?
Able to travel and take pictures of landmarks of all 81 provinces of the Philippines, and to photograph all 600+ bird species found in the country

What would you like to be doing in 5 years from now?
Still developing my skills in photography.

What do you think about phone photography?
It is an essential and practical alternative if you don’t have your DSLR camera with you.

If someone said ‘How can I be the next Jeniel Buday?’ What would you say?
Love your passion and keep practicing. Keep learning and be inspired by others works.
